2017-2018 NOMINATIONS and APPLICATIONS are now open!
Thank you for your participation in this year’s Long Island Scholar-Artist Awards.
Please follow instructions carefully below.
NOTE: A student submitting an application without an authorized school nomination will NOT be accepted. Parents and students must work with their schools for nomination submissions. School will provide student with ONLINE password.
Choose your nominees with these minimum requirements in mind:
Applicants MUST be graduating seniors from the Class of 2018 and must represent excellence as practicing artists within their chosen discipline. Applicants MUST demonstrate superior academic achievement with an un-weighted grade point average of 90 or above.
Prospective honorees will be required to demonstrate excellence in the arts via a portfolio of their work, and will also be evaluated by an essay. The topic of the essay will focus on how the arts have enriched the life of the student.
The selection committee – composed of arts educators and professionals from each discipline – will present recommendations to a steering committee for the final selection of each month’s student honorees.
PLEASE NOTE: To obtain the best representation from schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties, school districts MUST limit their entries to one student per arts discipline.
NOMINATIONS may ONLY be submitted by an authorized school official; e.g. Principal, Superintendent or Arts Teacher.
Once a student is nominated, their school official may download the Letter to Students to inform the student and their parents.
Next, it is the student’s responsibility to work with their parents and school to complete the STUDENT APPLICATION. ONLY ONE submission will be accepted per student. Only online forms will be accepted.
NOMINATIONS must be submitted online by an authorized school official online by JUNE 1, 2017 12:00 MIDNIGHT.
The STUDENT APPLICATION FORMS must be submitted online along with all required portfolio materials, e.g. essays, digital files and videos, by JUNE 9, 2017 MIDNIGHT.
