ABOUT THE PROJECT:
Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) and the MTA invite Long Island based student artists (high school and college level) to submit digital artwork for the opportunity to be featured in the new Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Grand Central Terminal, set to open in early 2023!

As part of this new station, the MTA has installed a series of massive, custom-sized video screens where they are committed to featuring local student artwork. LIAA is working with the MTA on this open call and we’d like to invite students from Long Island-based high schools and colleges to create and submit digital art projects that may be selected to appear on the screens at the grand opening of the terminal. The selected artwork will help represent depictions of Long Island through the lens of young artists and visually connect LIRR riders to their surroundings.

The work will create an immersive environment for the millions of riders who use Grand Central Madison each day. The work will be installed for a minimum of 4 months. This call is for digital artwork, visual only (no sound). Work should be submitted in video formt (an MP4 or .mov file).

The screens are 7.25 feet tall, and 17.25 feet wide (Pixel dimensions are 2112w x 864h per screen). Maximum length for all video submissions is 3 minutes.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18th at 5:00pm.

The work will be selected by a panel of representatives from the MTA and Long Island Arts Alliance.
