Hon. Roger Tilles and the Long Island Board of Directors thank you for your support of Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) and the LIAA Scholar-Artist Awards Program
Because of your support, the Alliance advocates for the arts and arts education communities as significant economic engines, stewards, presenters and trustees of important collections, community connectors and education providers. The arts help create vital communities in which to live and work. They spur travel and tourism that feed the economy and are a wise investment in a community’s infrastructure.
LIAA’s Scholar-Artist Awards program presents outstanding high school-age artists to the public in monthly profiles that appear in Newsday and on newsday.com. Scholar-Artists are chosen from five disciplines: Visual Arts, Music, Theater, Dance, and Media Arts. Selections are made from a pool of students nominated by each of Long Island’s public school districts, and from independent and parochial schools. In addition to the twenty students selected to be Scholar-Artists, twenty additional students receive Awards of Merit.
